Mighty Milers

Have you come to the school in the afternoon and wondered why there were students running around the outside of the school with colored paper in their hands? Well, this is the Mighty Milers program.

The students, mostly 3rd and 4th graders, run every second recess with Mrs. Winbauer. They have cards which get punched by teacher volunteers every time they get around the building.  For every mile a student runs, he or she receives a shoe charm. Other prizes are awarded at other mileage goals culminating in a medal at 26 miles - the equivalent to a marathon.

The kids are having fun, getting fit and setting and reaching goals.

The Mighty Milers program is a national program from the New York Road Runners which we are able to have at our school thanks to grant funding. Thank you to all the teachers and students who make it possible.
