Art Program

What is the Art Docent Program?

Our elementary schools do not have art teachers on staff. The Interurban Center for the Arts (sponsored by the Green River Community College Foundation) loans our school, and many others, enough large art prints and research information for each classroom to have an art presentation once per month from October thru May. The Glenridge PTO is our sponsor and pays the fee for the loan of these materials.

Art docent volunteers are parents, grandparents, friends of students, community members and senior citizen volunteers.  Free training courses are given at Green River Community College by the Interurban Center for the Arts. We also have training at Glenridge. The art docents have learned basic art concepts to teach the children. They have also learned how to present an art project that will reinforce what they have discussed with the children.
We can always use volunteers for this important program.  You do not need to be an artist to be an art docent.  If you are interested, please contact the Glenridge PTO.

These classes are in need of art docents for the 2019 - 2020 school year.

Did you know that a lot of museums in the Seattle-Tacoma area have FREE admission days? They do! Check out this list of free admission days.

Files and Links for Art Docents

We need you to label the artwork of each student. Here are two different styles of labels. Both are MS Word Documents. Both are designed to fit on mailing labels compatible with Avery 5160/8160,  1 inch x 2 5/8 inches, 30 per sheet. You can download one or both of these documents and edit the text with the names of your students and the appropriate details. To download the file, click on the link below. You will see the document. In the upper left corner, click "File", scroll down to click "Download" and a copy of the file should be saved to your computer. If you have any questions, please contact the Glenridge PTO.
