Are you interested in carrying on the tradition of Popcorn Fridays? We need parents who are willing to come out once or twice a month on Friday afternoons. Popping popcorn, and selling it during afternoon recess, training available. Please contact us at glenridgepto@gmail.com.

Fall Fundraiser

Our fall fundraiser is underway! Help support the Accelerated Reader Program, the drama program, field trip transportation, and classroom supplies. This year we have partnered with NW Fundraising to bring you Mrs. Fields Classic Collection.

• Cookie dough is frozen in individual serving, ready to go straight from freezer to oven.
• Available in ten delicious varieties.
• Dough is Kosher certified.
• Dough lasts in the freezer up to one year!

In addition to yummy cookie dough, you can check out Auntie Anne's pretzels and an assortment of other delicious treats you can pull out of the freezer and have ready to serve in minutes!

Do you have friends and family that want to help, but live out of town?  They can still participate, while catalog items are for locals only, there is a great selection of items online that can be purchased and shipped right to their door!

Make sure you log on to www.supportourfundraisers.com and register using the ID# on your order form.  You will be provided with a  link and sample email to send to your friends and loved ones.  Your child will be given credit for the orders and we will receive the funds for our school.

PTO Movie Night: Thursday October 9^th 6:30   Hotel Transylvania

Free to students and families in the lunchroom. Snacks available for purchase, proceeds benefit Accelerated Reader. This is NOT a drop off event.

Mrs. Fields Cookie Dough Fundraiser:  Sell cookie dough and help fund Accelerated Reader, drama and field trip transportation. Packets went home 9/26. Order forms are due 10/9.

Create an account and let out of town family members and friends order online.  Use the ID number on your order form to register. Pass on the website below and the ID number.

Shop and Give with Fred Meyer

Do you shop at Fred Meyer?  Do you use a Fred Meyer Rewards Card?

By using your Rewards Card when you shop you can donate to Glenridge PTO.  Link your Rewards card to Glenridge PTO and every time you do your family shopping or stop off to pick up milk you'll be helping the students and teachers at your school, while still getting Reward Points, Fuel Points and Rebates.

To sign up go to Fred Meyer's Community Rewards page, click on the purple "Link Your Rewards Card Now" button and follow the directions.

Don't have a Rewards Card?  Sign up at the customer service desk at any Fred Meyer store.

Box Tops and Labels for Education Classroom Contest

Clipping Box Tops and Labels for Education is an easy way for you to help our school earn cash and supplies. Last school year, we earned $1436 and used the money to help fund the Accelerated Reader Program and field trip transportation. This school year, our school’s goal is to top last years totals.

Are you a Box Tops member? Sign up to stay updated on our school’s earnings and find a full list of over 250 participating products. Members also receive exclusive coupons and recipes and can learn about extra ways for our school to earn more cash.

Become a supporter of Labels for Education and receive coupons and bonus offers. You can find a list of participating products and other ways to help on their site.

What you need to know:

• Last day to turn in Box Tops and Labels for Education is October 17, 2014.

• Cut labels off participating products.

• Turn them in to your child's teacher or the office in a bag or envelope; please label with both your child's and teacher's name.

• Prizes will be awarded to the class that turns in the most labels and to the class with the most participants!

NEWS, EVENTS AND VOLUNTEER REQUESTS

What exactly is PTO? PTO stands for Parent Teacher Organization. As parents and guardians and staff, we are all members. There is no membership fee or required commitment. There are many ways that someone might participate as a PTO member. For example: attend events, volunteer in the classroom, teach monthly art lessons, fundraise, or attend monthly meetings. There is no right way, just your way.

Mrs. Fields Cookie Dough Fundraiser: Look for fundraiser order forms in your 9/26 Friday Flyer. Money raised through our fundraiser will fund programs like Accelerated Reader, drama and field trip transportation. Order forms are due 10/9, we welcome you to turn them in earlier.

Donations

The Glenridge Fall Carnival is scheduled for October 17, 2014 and in order to make it a great success, we need help from you.  Can you volunteer your time?  We rely on parents, guardians, older siblings and community members to help take tickets, run games, sell food, set up, take down and other assorted activities.  Please see the list of positions that need filling here: http://www.glenridgepto.org/p/volunteer.html.

If lending your time is not your thing, we are in need of several items:

• Cakes, cookies or brownies to be used as cake walk prizes (store bought is great, homemade is wonderful) 
• Candy to give out as game prizes (Smarties, Tootsie Rolls, Twizzlers, etc. individually wrapped please)
• Money donations (will be used for snacks for the volunteers and to fill in on prizes)

Donations can be left at the office for the PTO, or contact us at glenridgepto@gmail.com to make other arrangements. Money earned from the Fall Carnival will be put towards the Accelerated Reader program and field trip transportation, without your help the programs wouldn't be able to operate the way they do.   Any and all help offered will be greatly appreciated.

Picture Day!

School picture day for Glenridge Elementary is Wednesday, September 24, 2014.

Hellriegel's Foto 1 Portrait Studio will be taking individual portraits of all students. To purchase your students picture please fill out the envelope packet that was sent home with Friday Flyers on September 19th.  Please remember to pick a background color, if no choice is made the background will be blue.  Each student needs an order envelope with payment, do not combine them.

Tips for a good photo:

1. Get a good nights sleep.
2. Pick out your clothes the night before.  Photographers recommend solid colors, or simple patterns, avoiding pictures or slogans (these might be cut in half making it hard or impossible to read; in some instances saying things you'd rather it didn't), long sleeves and small accessories.
3.  Remind students to check hair, teeth and face after eating and recess.
4. Wear sunscreen leading up to picture day to avoid sunburns/tan lines.
5. At picture time remember to check your top, adjusting buttons, collars and jewelry as needed, sit up tall, smile and listen to your photographer they are there to help you get a nice picture.
6. Lastly if you have any special requests for you student (taking off glasses, smile with teeth showing) make sure you remind them as you send the off to school for the day.

Younger siblings are welcome to come in for photos on picture day as well, please call the school office to find out the best time.  Hellriegel wants you to be happy with your picture and has scheduled a retake day for those students and students who are not in attendance on Thursday,  November 13, 2014.  Class pictures will be taken in March.

Curriculum Night: Tuesday September 16th, 6:00-7:30 in the Multipurpose Room

Community Sponsorship: Do you know anyone who owns a business or works for a business that might want to support Glenridge? Perhaps through financial support, supplies or volunteers? Please contact us. We have template donation letters that can be used.

Jamba Juice Smoothie Sales: Tuesday September 16^th, at afternoon recess, students can purchase smoothies for $2 and help raise money for the library’s accelerated reader program.

PTO Spirit Sales: Wednesday September 17th before school (weather permitting)

Glenridge pencils 10 cents and Glenridge key-chains 50 cents will be sold in front of the school.

Glenridge Fall Carnival: Friday October 17^th 6:00 pm

This takes community effort to be successful. We need your participation and involvement. Any thing you do, whether small or big, is appreciated and needed. Click here to help.

Popcorn Sales: Students have been asking for popcorn again. If you are interested in carrying on the tradition of Popcorn Fridays, please let us know. This could be 1x a month or 2x a month.
