PTO WEEKLY UPDATE 01/11/14

Shout out to:

Lisa Rohlfing for setting up the Reptile Man assembly.

Beth Hillberry for running concessions at PTO movie nights and the Reptile Man assembly.
Mrs. Fuller's class was the first to complete their Boxtopoly game board and will be treated to an ice cream party!  Thanks to everyone who participated; every Box Top sent in gives Glenridge 10¢ to put towards field trip transportation and programs used through out the school year.

PTO Meeting

The next Glenridge PTO meeting is Tuesday January 13th at 7:00 pm in the Glenridge library; free childcare is provided for those who need it. Please come to discuss future events and fundraising ideas. We would love your input.

Box Top and Labels for Education Contest

It's time for a contest!  Gather all the Box Tops and Labels for Education you've been saving and send them in to school in a baggie/envelope marked with the name of the student and teacher.  The class that collects the most will win a pizza party!  Turn them in anytime before February 20th to be counted in the contest.  All proceeds go to field trip transportation and school programs.

Glenridge ELL

The ELL program currently has 140 children with 35 different home languages, besides English.
The ELL staff consists of 6 members: Two certified teachers (Mrs. Sahara and Mrs. Rodgers) and 4 para-educators (Mrs. Hurlbut, Mrs. Vallie, Mrs. Wood and Mrs. Walsh).
Depending on their English proficiency, most of the students remain in their regular classrooms and receive support from a member of the ELL staff there during the Common Core English Language Arts time blocks.
ELL provides additional services for the English Language Learner and their families such as: interpreters for conferences, district forms in various languages, community referrals, homework club to assist students in the morning before school, support with classroom projects, and book lending
The ELL department also puts on a Multi-Cultural Fair in the late Spring.
Have dinner at Ivar’s and earn money for Glenridge. Thursday, January 15th 5:00-7:00 pm Glenridge teachers and staff members will be there serving food. Come support them, and let your kids visit with friends.  Please visit the location at 25405 104th Avenue SE, 20% of all sales will go to our school!

A vengeful fairy is driven to curse an infant princess, only to discover that the child may be the one person who can restore peace to their troubled land. Come see this months selection on PTO movie night Friday, January 23rd 6:30pm in the Glenridge cafeteria. This is a free event for students and their families. Concessions will be available for purchase; funds raised will support school programs. This is not a drop off event; children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
