Welcome Back! PTO Weekly Update 08-30-15

First Day of School
August 31, 2015

Hope everyone's summer was full of sun and fun!

The PTO has been preparing all summer to make this school year amazing.

We encourage you to take part in everything you can, you'll make memories and friends to last a lifetime.

Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who came and helped clean up the school grounds and plant. Thank you! Everything looks amazing, and ready for students and teachers tomorrow!
The Green Team could still use more bulbs to plant this fall and gardening tools are always welcome. Please let us know if you can help.

Box Top Collection

You have until September 4th to fill up your sheet and return it to school! Need another sheet?  Get your summer collection sheet here.

Volunteers are an important part of the team of people that make Glenridge Elementary a strong and effective learning environment for our children. Volunteers make differences in small ways that add up to big results; every day schools are asked to do more with less and family involvement is needed more than ever to fill in the gaps. Research shows that when parents get involved in school, children do better. They perform better on tests, get better grades and have fewer discipline problems.
Anyone can be a volunteer including moms, dads, grandparents, aunts and uncles. Stop by the office, fill out a short form and have your fingerprints taken. You could be involved in just a couple of days!

Volunteer

In cooperation with The Interurban Center for the Arts (sponsored by the Green River Community College Foundation), Glenridge PTO volunteers provide monthly art lessons to all of our students. The Art Docent program at Glenridge gives our students an opportunity to learn about different artists and works of art from different cultures.  We have a wonderful set of art to share this year; volunteer to help with this amazing program!  Training classes start in September, contact us today!

Grandparents Wanted

Glenridge Elementary School is creating a grandparent organization. Grandparents are needed to assist students, teachers, staff and parents in enhancing and improving education. Please pass on this information to grandparents and seniors (no grandchildren have to be attending the school) in the Glenridge Community. If you are interested, or know of anyone that is interested Please contact Dee Miller.

PTO Meeting

It was great to meet everyone at the Back to School Ice Cream Social, please join us at the next PTO Meeting on Tuesday, September 8th  at 7:00 pm in the Glenridge library. Free childcare is provided. We welcome everybody, the PTO is for all parents and guardians. Can't attend the meeting?  Still want to share your ideas? Please leave a note with the office or contact us by email.

After receiving a bizarre series of encrypted messages, a group of kids embark on an adventure with an alien who needs their help.
Come see this months selection on PTO Movie Night Friday, September 11th in the Glenridge cafeteria. This is a free event for students and their families. Concessions will be available for purchase; funds raised will support school programs. This is not a drop off event; children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
