The nature of a PTO is that it evolves and changes as families come and go. This year my family is one of them, our son is moving on to middle school. I have sent you almost 200 PTO newsletters in the last five years and as I contemplated what should be in my last one, I realized that there was so much I wanted to say and that it wouldn't all fit in a newsletter; so, until my novel comes out:
- Volunteer, I have made some of the best friends giving my time here, both other parents and staff, Glenridge is full of amazing people. Offer your time and talents. There is something you can do from home, at night or right here at school. There are things that take a few minutes all the way up to being a board member, all of it is important, valued and will make a difference.
- Be informed. Read the flyers, Facebook, Instagram, emails, and communications from your teachers. I know there is a lot, but the more you know the more you will be able to make the right decisions for your family.
- Participate, go to events, take the whole family. You will meet other parents, your kids' friends and have a tiny taste of what their day is like.
- Be Kind. Please remember that everyone is human, mistakes will happen, we are all trying our best to give our kids and yours the best elementary experience they can get.
On behalf of the Glenridge PTO, I would like to thank the parents, guardians, and staff. The time you gave, the money and items you donated, and your attendance at events all contributed to making Glenrdige the amazing community that it is.
Because of you, we were able to continue financial support for reading programs, field trip transportation, PE equipment and classroom support that enriches the education of Glenridge students. Your support allows us to hold events like the Fall Carnival, Reptile Man and the Glow Dance that help to make school fun and create lasting memories.
A fond farewell to everyone who will not be back at Glenridge whether you are moving on to middle school or life is taking you to a new area, we wish you well.
Once a Voyager always a Voyager. Have a happy summer! Brooke Johnson Communications Secretary
