Dear Glenridge Families,

The Glenridge PTO Board stands with our community, around the Puget Sound and across the country, in outrage and grief at the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and so many other of our Black community members.

The PTO supports Glenridge Elementary because we believe that schools have a significant impact in the lives and health of kids and communities.  All of us - parents and families, teachers and staff, school and district administrators – have a role to play in creating safe, enriching, equitable schools where all kids can thrive.  White members of our community, in particular, must use their privilege to address racism and the inequities in our schools that harm Black students and other students of color.

In the coming days, Glenridge PTO will post educational resources for parents on Black Lives Matter and other anti-racism topics on our social media streams and purchase books that address these issues for our school library and classrooms.  Over the summer break, the Board will identify ways we will partner with our school and the district to take action on these issues, for next school year and the years beyond.

All Glenridge parents and families are members of the PTO, and we need your conversation and engagement to best serve our school.  Please reach out to us at GlenridgePTO@gmail.com and stay connected at http://www.glenridgepto.org/ and https://www.facebook.com/glenridgepto/.

Sincerely,

The Glenridge PTO Board
