Menchie's Night - Weekly Update 5-15-16

Menchie's Night Menchie's Night is Thursday, May 19th, 4:00 - 9:00 pm (14024 SE Petrovitsky Road)! Come enjoy frozen yogurt and support our school, 20% of your purchase will be donated to the Glenridge PTO and used towards PTO programs! You MUST present your flyer at time of purchase (check your Friday Flyers or print one here). Print extras to share with friends and family, anyone with a flyer will help Glenridge! Join the PTO Board Participation through volunteering allows you to be involved with your child's education. Research indicates that when families are involved, a child is more apt to get higher grades, be more likely to graduate, and go on to college. Our children love to see us around the school. You get to know your children's teachers and your children's friends and make a difference. Relay for Life This week, May 16th - May 20th is Mini-Relay at Glenridge!  Mini-Relay is an extension of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life event. Relay for life is an event that helps educate people about cancer. All week long students will be learning about making healthy choices with an entire week of lesson plans and fun activities, ending in a Mini-Relay on Friday. Help us by raising money in our Silver Sabotage!  Students will have 5 minutes at the beginning of every day to put copper coins (pennies) into their classroom jugs and silver coins (nickels, dimes and quarters) into the jugs of other classrooms, at the end of the week the class with the most copper wins a prize! Have Fun all week long by participating in school wide spirit days! Monday: "Hats off to Being Smoke-Free" - Hat Day Tuesday: "Stay Healthy and Exercise" - Favorite Sports Team Day Wednesday: "Shade Out Cancer" - Sunglasses Day Thursday: "Survivor Day" - Wear Purple to Celebrate Our Survivors Friday: "Superhero Day" - Dress as a Superhero and Fight Against Cancer

Book Drive Bring your unwanted book and other media (comics, magazines, DVDs) to Glenridge by May 27th and leave them in one of the marked boxes. June 2nd the PTO will be hosting a used book sale at Art Night. All books will be priced at $1 or less and will be sold to support Glenridge PTO programs. Survey Help us make next year a great success! Box Top & Labels for Education Contest The last contest of the school year is here! Turn in your Box Tops and Labels to your teacher (with your name and teacher's name on the envelope) by June 10th!  Winning class gets ice cream! Help establish plans for improvement and change, get involved in activities and events, Impact your child's education. Jamba Juice Tuesday Tuesday, May 24th, Jamba Juice will be sold during afternoon recess. Remember to send $2 to school. Exact change will help the process move faster and give students more time to enjoy their treat. Money raised supports Glenridge programs. Sports Day Show your team pride on sports day!  Friday, May 27th dress in your favorite professional team's colors, logos, jersey or even the jersey from your own sports team. Art Walk & Book Sale Come see the art your students have created under the guidance of the Art Docent program, put June 2nd on your calendar now. Popcorn Friday Friday, June 3rd, popcorn will be sold during afternoon recess. Remember to send 50¢ to school. Please send the exact change, it will help the process move faster and give students more time to enjoy their popcorn. Money raised will support Glenridge programs. Voyager Pride Day Friday, June 3rd is a spirit wear day! Wear your Glenridge t-shirt or our school colors (navy blue, forest green and maroon) and show your Voyager pride! Join us for school pride days the first Friday of every month! PTO Meeting The next PTO Meeting is Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 7:00 pm in the Glenridge library. Free childcare is provided. We welcome everybody, the PTO is for all parents and guardians.
