PTO WEEKLY UPDATE 02/08/15


An amazing selection of books is headed your way!  At the Book Fair you will find something for everyone. Be sure to stop by the library after your conference with your teacher and take something fun to read home!

Book Fair Hours:
February 9th - February 12th
Monday and Tuesday: 9:00 am – 8:00 pm
Wednesday: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm 
Thursday: 9:00 am -1:00 pm

There are still opportunities to volunteer at this great event!. See if you can fill one of the open spots here, or contact the library (253-373-7494) for more information.

Glenridge Family Ice Skating Night


Come visit with friends and show off your ice skating skills at the Sno-King Ice ArenaFriday, February 13, 2015 from 6:30 to 8:15 pm. Skate rental and skating session are $8 a person, 50% of proceeds go to Glenridge. Be sure to warm up in the private room with hot chocolate and cookies provided by the PTO!

hildren must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Student Council Valentine Sales

The student council is selling fun non-food Valentine gifts before school Monday, February 9th through Friday, February 13th. Items are priced from 50¢ to $2 each. Parent volunteers are needed each day 9:00  - 9:45 to supervise sales. Please contact the office (253-373-7494) for more information.
Please help support the student council, while they raise money for special programs and learn valuable leadership skills. 

Box Top and Labels for Education Contest

Current class leaders:

Is your class one of the top 3?  Is your class #1? There is still time to take the lead! Gather all the Box Tops and Labels for Education you've been saving and send them in to school in a bag/envelope marked with the name of the student and teacher.  The class that collects the most will win a pizza party!  Turn them in anytime before February 23, 2015 to be counted in the contest.  All proceeds go to field trip transportation and school programs.

What's happening in 6th Grade

  • Environments in Science (we practiced raising farm crops as well as goldfish).
  • Started World Studies in Social Studies. This will lead to our Travel Agency Presentations in May.
  • Math: working on ratios for unit rates as well as equivalent fractions.
  • During conferences, we will be registering for middle school.

Student Council Spirit Days

The student council, is made up of 4th, 5th and 6th grade students, who are planning many exciting events. There will be posters promoting these special days around school. Here’s what’s coming up. 
  • Late start Wednesdays (March 4th, April 22, May 13th and June 3rd) wear your Glenridge t-shirt or school colors (navy blueforest green and maroon red) and show your Voyager pride!
  • Friday, February 27th Red, White and Hat Day, Celebrate Dr. Seuss' Birthday!
  • Friday, March 6th Pajama and Crazy Hair Day: how creative can you get with your hair?
 

Jamba Juice Tuesday

Jamba Juice Day is February 24th during afternoon recess, remember to send $2 to school. Money raised supports our school.
 

Popcorn Friday is Back!

Friday, March 6th during afternoon recess remember to send 50¢. Money raised supports our school.


Glenridge Family Dance

Thursday, March 12th 6:00 - 9:00 pm. More details and flyers to come. This should be a great event! 

 

Community News

The Kent School District has a clothing bank, run by the Kent area PTA. Although we are PTO, anyone is welcome to support them. They are always looking for donations of gently used clothing and new packages of socks and underwear (all sizes). Volunteers are also welcome.
