PTO Weekly Update 09-06-15

Edit - Picture day is September 29th - not the 23rd as mentioned below.

Welcome to Glenridge Elementary! We hope the transition to school after the summer break will be an easy one and we hope that you are ready to help us make this year successful and enjoyable!
  • Please take the time to read all of the papers that are being sent home from the school and return any forms required as soon as possible.
  • School supply lists are available on the school website.
The Glenridge PTO sponsors many activities for students such as school assemblies, field trips, events, movie nights, reading programs, book fair, and numerous other events throughout the school year. We cannot be successful in any of our endeavors without your support. There are many different ways to do this: you can chair a committee, join a committee, work an event. You just need to choose what works for you. We all have hectic schedules, and unfortunately, “free” time is not often easy to come by; but, if we all work together, and do what works for each of us individually, it will balance out. What the students gain from all of us working together is priceless. Please send us an email if you can volunteer your time to assist us in any way.

A big THANK YOU to the following companies that have donated items to Glenridge PTO

Volunteers are an important part of the team of people that make Glenridge Elementary a strong and effective learning environment for our children. Volunteers make differences in small ways that add up to big results; every day schools are asked to do more with less and family involvement is needed more than ever to fill in the gaps. Research shows that when parents get involved in school, children do better. They perform better on tests, get better grades and have fewer discipline problems.

Check out current opportunities to help here.
Anyone can be a volunteer including moms, dads, grandparents, aunts and uncles. Stop by the office, fill out a short form and have your fingerprints taken. You could be involved before you know it!
The first PTO Meeting for this school year is Tuesday, September 8th  at 7:00 pm in the Glenridge library. Free childcare is provided. We welcome everybody, the PTO is for all parents and guardians. Can't attend the meeting?  Still want to share your ideas? Please leave a note with the office or contact us by email.
The first Box Top and Labels for Education contest has begun!  Between now and October 17th, bring in your Box Tops and Labels in a bag/envelope marked with your student's name and their teacher.
