PTO WEEKLY UPDATE 03/29/15

Glenridge PTO Drama Club with Heavier Than Air Family Theatre Present

The Granny Awards!

Tonight's the night we've all been waiting for! Yes, Granny, who has retired from show business, will be honoring all of our favorite fairy tale characters! Who will win Best Female and Male Vocalist? Best Dramatic Scene? Best Choreography? And the coveted Best Villain Award? And don't forget to keep an eye on that nasty Big Bad Wolf as he tries to steal the treasured Granny Award.

Beginning in 2000 The Glenridge PTO Drama Club have put on a production every school year, many students continue to return to help. Each year an organization from our community is chosen to help in lieu of admission. Past productions and community pairings include The Little Mermaid, Jr./Glenridge Elementary, The Wizard of Oz/King County Animal Shelter, and Peter Pan/Kent Food Bank. All 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade students are welcome to join the “no cut” production, so everyone has a chance to participate.

The PTO Drama Club provides the “stage” for our young actors where we hope they will cultivate a lifelong appreciation. Plus, it's tons of fun for everyone.

Join us Thursday, April 2 and Friday, April 3 at 7:00 pm in the Glenridge auditorium where students will perform the Granny Awards. Please bring classroom supplies in lieu of admission.
Friday, April 3rd popcorn will be sold during afternoon recess, remember to send 50¢ to school.
Please bring the exact change, it will help the process move faster and give students more time to enjoy their popcorn. Money raised will support Glenridge programs.

The next Box Top and Labels for Education contest has begun! This is the last contest of the school year. Between now and June 5th, bring in your Box Tops and Labels in a bag/envelope marked with the students name and their teacher. The winning class will receive an ice cream party! The top two students in the winning class will get to pick their ice cream! Remember each label is worth 10¢ and is a very easy way to donate to the school. Send in your labels today!

It's time to order your 2014-2015 Glenridge Yearbook. Look for order forms that came home in Friday Flyers March 27th or download and print information on the PTO website. Prices go up April 24th, order yours today!

Submit your entry for the Cover Contest to the PTO box (in the office) by April 24th.

Tips for a good photo:

1. Get a good nights sleep.
2. Pick out your clothes the night before.  Photographers recommend solid colors, or simple patterns, avoiding pictures or slogans (these might be cut in half making it hard or impossible to read; in some instances saying things you'd rather it didn't), long sleeves and small accessories.
3.  Remind students to check hair, teeth and face after eating and recess.
4. Wear sunscreen leading up to picture day to avoid sunburns/tan lines.
5. At picture time remember to check your top, adjusting buttons, collars and jewelry as needed, sit up tall, smile and listen to your photographer they are there to help you get a nice picture.
6. Lastly if you have any special requests for you student (taking off glasses, smile with teeth showing) make sure you remind them as you send the off to school for the day.
